A high-level European delegation visited the Reconciliation Center on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, comprising the heads of public prosecutions from France, Belgium, and Spain, led by the Attorney General of the Court of Appeal in Rabat.
The visit occurred within the framework of international cooperation to combat violent extremism and enhance the exchange of experiences in rehabilitating and reintegrating prisoners involved in terrorism-related cases.
The head of the Reconciliation Center began the visit with an official reception for the European delegation, followed by a detailed presentation on the center’s establishment, stemming from a partnership among five key national institutions: the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration, the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Prisoners, the National Human Rights Council, the Rabita Mohammedia of Scholars, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The officials highlighted that this partnership has facilitated the development of an integrated vision targeting the prevention of extremism and the reintegration of convicted terrorists.
During the meeting, the strategic objectives and assigned tasks of the center were discussed, particularly the formulation of practical programs for implementing prevention and rehabilitation policies, focusing on the Moroccan experience in this area. The presentation showcased the unique model of the “Reconciliation” program, which has become a benchmark for rehabilitating this group of prisoners.
The center presented an institutional film highlighting various rehabilitation activities and programs, opening the floor to an interactive discussion between delegation members and Moroccan officials on issues of violent extremism and ways to confront it.
At the end of the visit, European delegation members emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination and unifying international efforts to address transnational terrorist threats, asserting that institutional cooperation and experience exchange are essential foundations for strengthening collective security.
