Unified Morocco – A Serious and Rational Royal Speech Opening a New Chapter in the Sahara Issue
Unified Morocco, embodying seriousness and rationality, is the core message of the royal speech delivered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on October 31, 2025, following the Security Council vote that deemed the autonomy initiative as the realistic solution to the manufactured conflict over the Moroccan Sahara. In this historic national address, His Majesty affirmed national sovereignty and the unity of Moroccan territory from Tangier to Lagouira, stressing that the Kingdom will not allow any party to encroach upon its rights and historical borders. The King indicated that Morocco has transitioned from management to a phase of tangible and systematic change concerning territorial unity, focusing on a rational political solution based on the Moroccan initiative, thereby reaffirming the Kingdom’s sobriety in addressing its national issues.
His Majesty highlighted that two-thirds of UN member states consider the autonomy initiative the sole framework for resolving the conflict. Meanwhile, the southern regions have witnessed an enhancement of the Kingdom’s economic sovereignty, backed and encouraged by major powers for investments and trade exchanges, positioning these regions as a hub for development and economic stability within their regional context. The King expressed gratitude to the countries that contributed to this advancement, notably the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and the sister Arab and African nations, emphasizing that Morocco seeks to achieve a balanced political solution that respects the interests of all parties involved.
The speech also conveyed a strong humanitarian and diplomatic dimension, urging the residents of the Tindouf camps to seize the historic opportunity to engage in the autonomy process and contribute to the management of their local affairs as part of a unified Morocco. His Majesty reaffirmed Morocco’s flexibility and goodwill towards its neighbors, inviting the Algerian president to a sincere brotherly dialogue to overcome differences and build relationships based on trust and fraternal bonds while committing to the principles of regional cooperation and mutual respect. The speech concluded with recognition of the sacrifices made by all Moroccans, particularly those from the southern regions, along with praise for the Royal Armed Forces and security forces and their families for fifty years of defending the unity of the homeland. The King also commemorated the martyrs of the nation and the late King Hassan II, affirming the continuation of the historical journey of the Kingdom.
This royal speech marks a new page in the path of the Moroccan Sahara issue, reflecting Morocco’s steadiness in handling its national concerns, combining self-confidence, rationality in resolving conflicts, a realistic solution, embracing the children of the camps, and goodwill towards neighbors, affirming the Kingdom’s commitment to peace, development, and justice for all citizens.
