The Supreme Council of the Judicial Authority Reinforces Public Trust in Justice through Workshops to Enhance the Judicial System

The Supreme Council of the Judicial Authority continued in 2024 to implement workshops aimed at enhancing the judicial system, focusing on comprehensive and sustainable reform of the sector and strengthening citizens’ trust in justice. The Council adopted an integrated approach based on awareness and disciplinary guidance aimed at promoting a culture of judicial ethics and reinforcing values of integrity and uprightness in daily practice.

The Council’s efforts included organizing seminars, workshops, and training programs for judges, along with individual and regional meetings to guide judges and remind them of ethical and professional standards, under the supervision of the Ethics Committee and with support for judicial independence. The Council also monitored asset declarations and published 108 disciplinary decisions while anonymizing the identities of the judges involved to uphold transparency and raise awareness within the judicial body about behaviors to avoid.

On the disciplinary side, the Council demonstrated strictness in addressing any professional or ethical misconduct. The General Inspectorate of Judicial Affairs opened 179 new cases and completed investigations on 208 cases, with reports submitted to the Disciplinary Committee. The number of judges subject to these reports rose significantly to 1,324 judges, while various penalties were issued, including dismissal, temporary retirement, suspension, and reprimands, with the number of judges who faced actual sanctions decreasing from 52 in 2023 to 35 in 2024.

The General Inspectorate also continued central inspection operations on 22 courts, including primary and appeal courts, to evaluate judicial performance, identify obstacles, and propose solutions, as part of a plan covering a cumulative total of 68 courts for the period 2022-2024.

These measures emphasize a combination of awareness-raising, guidance, and strict oversight, aiming to build an independent, fair, and effective judiciary capable of gaining public trust and ensuring justice for all.
