In a festive atmosphere filled with national pride and admiration for Morocco’s illustrious history, the Noor Al-Hiba Khalifi School Group organized an educational celebration commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Glorious Green March. This event took place in the central square of Kelaat Mgouna, featuring participation from the school’s students alongside various civil society figures and community associations.
The celebration commenced with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a collective moment of standing for the national anthem, providing an emotional tableau that encapsulated the meanings of belonging and pride in national identity. Subsequently, students from the institution presented a series of national anthems and artistic displays, expressing their commitment to national principles and recalling the historical significance of the Green March.
The ceremony included the honoring of several participants in the Green March and various figures from civil society, in a symbolic gesture reflecting appreciation for those who contributed to safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and building the homeland, adding a profound emotional dimension to the event.
Following the ceremony, a vibrant carnival parade took place along Mohammed V Street, leading to the Silver Park, where voices resounded with national slogans and songs celebrating the Green March, showcasing the enduring flame of nationalism in the hearts of the rising generations.
In a speech during the event, Mrs. Thouraya Khalifi, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the institution, emphasized the importance of instilling historical memory among the youth, viewing the commemoration of the Green March as an annual occasion to express pride in national belonging and to draw lessons from a saga forged by the will of a people and leadership.
Khalifi affirmed that the spirit of the march remains alive and renewing, thanks to the major projects led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which have turned these regions into models of development, progress, and solid national unity.
Through this celebration, the Noor Al-Hiba Khalifi Institution embodied a model of civic education, intertwining the youth with their country’s history and reinforcing their connection to the values of solidarity and loyalty that formed the essence of the Green March.
