Marrakech – The Director General of the National Police of Burkina Faso, Thierry Doumbia, affirmed today in Marrakech that Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is establishing itself as a leading African security force.
In a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press following his discussions with the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdelatif Hammouchi, on the sidelines of the 93rd Interpol General Assembly, the Burkinabe official noted that Morocco’s hosting of this international event reflects “the great trust that the international security community places in the Kingdom.”
He pointed out that the kingdom hosting the Interpol General Assembly represents an appreciation for the efforts it has made in the field of international security cooperation, expressing his satisfaction regarding Morocco’s selection to host this prominent international meeting, which contributes to “highlighting the status of African police on the international stage.” He commended the “well-organized” nature of the event, which enhances police cooperation among countries.
He stated, “From Morocco, Africa fully asserts its place in the security field,” at a time when Interpol programs are directed toward strengthening the continent’s security capacities.
The Interpol General Assembly, the largest decision-making body of the organization, gathers more than 800 delegates from 179 countries, including 82 security directors, to discuss issues related to transnational organized crime, combating international fraud, enhancing global police capacities, and solidifying the role of women in police forces.
