Morocco Strengthens Its Presence at the International Import Expo in China to Enhance Economic Cooperation with Beijing
Follow-up
Shanghai is hosting the eighth edition of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) from November 5 to 10, one of the key global gatherings dedicated to enhancing international trade. Morocco is participating in this major economic event, reaffirming its ongoing presence in platforms dedicated to Sino-African economic cooperation.
The expo is organized by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai government, featuring over 4,000 exhibitors across an area exceeding 367,000 square meters, including around 290 companies listed in the “Fortune Global 500.” The exhibits cover various sectors including food, healthcare, automobile, smart industry, mobility, and modern technologies.
Representing Morocco at this event is a delegation from the agriculture and food industries, under the supervision of the independent agency for monitoring and coordinating exports (Morocco Foodex), with participation from the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), the National Federation of Fish Processing and Valorization Industries (FENIP), and the National Federation of Food Industries (FENAGRI).
The Moroccan delegation is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with Chinese economic actors, coordinated with the Kingdom’s embassy in Beijing, aiming to strengthen trade partnerships and open new avenues for cooperation between the two sides.
This participation comes as part of efforts to enhance Morocco’s presence in the Chinese market, following a promotional seminar held last July in Casablanca by Morocco Foodex and the CIIE office, which resulted in a cooperation agreement and the establishment of a dedicated Moroccan pavilion at this edition.
The program for the 2025 edition of the expo also includes the Hongqiao International Economic Forum and a number of specialized seminars on sustainability, energy transition, innovation, and digitization, along with the release of the Global Opening Report for 2025.
Since its launch in 2018, the China International Import Expo has facilitated transactions exceeding $500 billion, confirming its position as a pivotal platform for enhancing global trade and reinforcing China’s economic openness policy.
