Morocco is on the verge of achieving a historic tourism milestone, aiming to welcome 20 million visitors by the end of 2025.
Moroccan tourism continues to perform strongly this year, with indicators suggesting that the kingdom is set to reach an unprecedented number of arrivals, having hosted 16.6 million tourists by the end of October 2025, marking a 14 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Fatima Zahra Ammor, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, announced during a signing ceremony for a letter of intent between the Alliance Group and Rixos Hotels in Casablanca that this performance reflects the exceptional dynamism in the sector since the launch of the tourism roadmap in 2023, alongside the increasing confidence of local and foreign investors in the Moroccan market.
Ammor added that Morocco has become one of the twenty most dynamic destinations in the world, ranking 13th globally, according to United Nations World Tourism Organization ratings. She noted that over 43,000 hotel beds have been added since 2023, indicating accelerated growth in reception capacity.
Official data suggests that 2024 marked a significant turning point, with the number of visitors increasing by 20 percent compared to 2023, reaching 17.4 million tourists. Additionally, the number of foreign tourists rose by 23 percent to 8.8 million visitors, while the number of Moroccans living abroad hit 8.6 million, up by 17 percent.
This performance bolsters expectations of breaking a new local record by the end of 2025, as Morocco is only 800,000 tourists away from surpassing last year’s figures. Predictions indicate that the country could receive around 19.9 million tourists by the end of the current year, supported by high demand for its destinations during the year-end holidays.
With these numbers, Morocco solidifies its position as Africa’s leading tourist destination, continuing to enhance its status on the global tourism map thanks to the diversity of its offerings, stability, and advancements in hospitality projects and international promotion.
