Hawz Province: Extensive Consultative Meeting to Launch the New Generation of Integrated Development Programs

In a move to enhance local development in line with royal directives, an extensive consultative meeting was held on Wednesday in Hawz Province. The aim was to prepare the new generation of integrated territorial development programs, which focus on the integration of various sectoral programs and the involvement of all partners in crafting innovative developmental solutions.

The provincial governor, Mustafa El Maaza, emphasized the significance of the meeting as a critical phase in implementing the latest royal speeches. He noted that the new program represents a qualitative leap in the approach to local development through a flexible bottom-up planning strategy that provides citizens with an active role in shaping the future of their province.

El Maaza stressed the necessity of accurately diagnosing the reality of the province, taking into account the challenges posed by years of drought and the impact of the September 8, 2023 earthquake. He called on all local actors, including authorities, territorial communities, the private sector, civil society, and universities, to actively engage in this program.

The meeting featured a detailed presentation on indicators of education, health, employment, and water, as well as a review of the key public investments over the past decade. Representatives from civil society highlighted the main challenges in the fields of health, education, employment, agriculture, and infrastructure.

Abdel Latif Ajijdi, the president of the regional association space in Hawz, described the meeting as an opportunity to listen to the expectations of the residents, expressing hope that the outcomes of the consultation will translate into practical recommendations that enhance local development.

This meeting will be followed by a series of thematic workshops and consultative forums aimed at strengthening dialogue and formulating recommendations regarding the integrated development program, with a focus on the contract-target program for 2026, which aims to implement quick and socially impactful measures.
