On Monday, the exhibition “From the Green March to Marches of Growth” was inaugurated in the capital, Rabat, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Green March, a national epic that solidified values of unity and national solidarity in the collective memory.

The exhibition, organized by the Royal Archives in collaboration with the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, aims to highlight the historical, political, and diplomatic dimensions of the march through the display of royal documents, audio-visual materials, and firsthand testimonies documenting the phases and transformations of this historical event.

During the opening ceremony, the Director of the Royal Archives, Bahia Simo, explained that the exhibition seeks to provide a comprehensive view of the Green March by documenting its organizational and popular details, recalling its echo in local and international media, in addition to showcasing the literary and artistic creations that immortalized this national epic.

She added that the exhibition pays special attention to the southern regions, which have undergone significant developmental transformations thanks to the sovereign royal care and major projects that placed human development at their center.

Simo emphasized that what distinguishes the exhibition is the use of visual presentations that provide visitors with an interactive experience, enabling them to relive the atmosphere of the march and recall its historical moments through scenes documenting the participation of various segments of Moroccan society, showcasing the national unity and grassroots enthusiasm that characterized this unique event.

For her part, the Director of the National Library, Samira Mlisi, considered the exhibition a unique opportunity to learn about bright pages of modern Moroccan history and to draw inspiration from the lessons of national unity that Moroccans established during the Green March, emphasizing that looking into the past is fundamental to building the future.

Mlisi added that organizing this exhibition reflects both institutions’ pride in their role in preserving the national memory and safeguarding Morocco’s documentary and cultural heritage, noting that it includes archival documents, photographs, publications, and testimonies that chronicle the journey of a people united under the motto “God, the Nation, the King.”

The exhibition will run for an entire month, from November 10 to December 10, allowing visitors and researchers the chance to explore bright pages of Moroccan history and recall the national and spiritual values embodied by Moroccans in one of their greatest national epics.
