Civil Society Award 2025: Honoring Initiatives and Active Citizenship Spirit
Mustapha Baitas, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, asserted that the Civil Society Award is not only about honoring outstanding initiatives but also celebrating the spirit of active citizenship and embodying the core values of noble associative work.
This statement was made during his chairing of the ceremony to appoint the members of the jury for the seventh edition of the Civil Society Award for the year 2025. Baitas clarified that the aim of organizing the award is to establish a culture of appreciation for contributions and recognizing volunteer civil work as an essential pillar of human development in Morocco.
The minister added that the award has become a motivating mechanism to encourage the spirit of initiative and citizenship, shining a light on effective models within civil society, which enhances the partnership between the state and civil actors, in line with the royal vision that positions civil society as a force for proposal and achievement in the development process.
Baitas noted that previous editions of the award have represented important milestones in instilling a culture of recognition by highlighting exceptional experiences that confirm that Moroccan associative work has become a lever for local development and participatory citizenship, as well as a domain for renewal and innovation in service of the community. He mentioned that the seventh edition comes as a natural extension of this success, whether in terms of the volume of participation or the quality of innovative initiatives.
The minister emphasized that the selection of jury members was based on their distinguished professional and human paths, and their contributions to serving civil society issues, whether through research, mentoring, or grassroots practice and associative responsibility, assuring that the commitment and objectivity characterizing the members will ensure the success of this edition, yielding results that meet the aspirations of civil actors.
The jury for the seventh edition of the award consists of committee chair Maryam Al-Nasr, and members Souad Hamidi, Ahmed Jazouli, Lahbib Aidid, Yahya Abdel Aziz, and Bashir Abu Al-Naim.
It is worth noting that the number of nominations for this edition reached 402, of which 281 pertain to national and local associations and associations of Moroccans worldwide, and 121 relate to civil figures.
