Casablanca.. A Seminar in the Maarif District Highlights Parallel Diplomacy in Defending National Issues
The Maarif District Council organized an intellectual seminar today, Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Mohammed Zafzaf Cultural Complex. The seminar focused on the role of parallel diplomacy in defending national issues, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the Green March, as part of the “Nights of Wisdom” program.
The seminar featured participation from former Minister of Justice Mohamed Aujjar and Miloudi Mekariq, Secretary-General of the Moroccan Labor Union, with the discussion moderated by journalist Jamal Kilhassane.
Mohamed Aujjar emphasized that parallel diplomacy has become a pivotal element in defending the Kingdom’s higher interests, highlighting that civil society, trade unions, and parliamentarians constitute a supportive front that enhances the efforts of official diplomacy in various international forums.
Miloudi Mekariq explained that trade union work contributes to reinforcing Morocco’s image as a country that respects social and economic rights, adding that national unions play a vital role in conveying the Moroccan experience abroad.
Participants praised the recent United Nations Security Council decision regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue, asserting that it strengthens Morocco’s position within the international community. They renewed their support for the autonomy initiative proposed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in 2007, viewing it as a serious and realistic solution to the regional conflict.
Jamal Kilhassane, the event’s moderator, regarded this seminar as an opportunity to strengthen local stakeholders’ awareness of the importance of parallel diplomacy in defending major national issues.
The seminar was attended by numerous civil society activists, politicians, and journalists who underscored the significance of intellectual initiatives in promoting national spirit and reinforcing collective awareness of the unity of Moroccan territory.
