Berrechid: Consultative Meeting to Shape the New Generation of Integrated Regional Development Programs

Berrechid – Today, the province of Berrechid hosted an extensive consultative meeting aimed at preparing the new generation of integrated regional development programs, in line with the high royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who called for the formulation of innovative development visions capable of reducing regional disparities and enhancing social justice.

The meeting, presided over by Governor Jamal Khelouk, brought together various local stakeholders, including elected officials, administrative representatives, public institution members, and civil society representatives, alongside academics and economic actors, for an open discussion on ways to enhance basic services and improve living standards within the province.

In his opening remarks, the governor emphasized that the meeting is part of the developmental dynamic initiated by His Majesty the King since ascending to the throne, which revolves around placing citizens at the heart of the development process through improved education, health, employment, infrastructure, and water access. He stressed that the goal is to prepare integrated programs that meet the expectations of the residents and invest in the province’s potential.

The general session featured diagnostic presentations regarding the current situation in the province and its economic, social, and human resources, followed by interactive thematic workshops addressing topics such as education, health, employment, and local governance. The workshops were marked by fruitful exchanges of ideas and proposals, with a strong presence of various participants.

In this context, Abdel Ali Ait Eider, Vice President of Hassan I University, highlighted that the university is a key partner in the development system, given its research capabilities and ability to support development projects. He noted that the institution is working to align training programs with labor market needs.

For his part, Al-Arabi Mardhi, the provincial delegate of the Ministry of Health, pointed out that the meeting is an important opportunity for a precise diagnosis of the health sector’s reality and the identification of priorities to develop a practical roadmap that ensures improved services and brings them closer to citizens.

Furthermore, the President of the Regional Council, Othman Badil, emphasized that the current phase focuses on diagnosis and consultation with various stakeholders, aiming to prepare a bank of executable development projects that align with the high royal directives.

Young voices and female economic actors also participated in the meeting, stressing the importance of involving various components, especially youth, in shaping future projects. Engineering student Hind Jouhari expressed that these meetings represent a real opportunity for youth to contribute to thinking and proposal formulation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants agreed on the necessity of continuing to work within an open and participatory framework that gathers all active forces in the province, with the aim of developing an integrated vision that keeps pace with the transformations in the Berrechid region and translates the royal will for balanced and comprehensive development.
