The Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication – Culture Sector has announced the opening of applications for the Morocco Book Award for the year 2025, in its fifty-sixth edition, which is one of the highest literary national awards and the most prestigious in the Moroccan cultural scene.
According to a statement from the ministry, the award encompasses nine categories covering various fields of creativity and knowledge, which are: Poetry, Narrative, Humanities, Social Sciences, Literary, Artistic, and Linguistic Studies, Translation, Amazigh Literature, Studies in Amazigh Culture, and Children’s and Young Adult Literature.
The ministry has set the period for submitting applications from October 2 to 31, 2025, with submissions directed to the Directorate of Books, Libraries, and Archives in Rabat, either through direct submission or by mail.
The competition is open to Moroccan writers, poets, critics, translators, and thinkers whose works were published in their first edition during the year 2024, whether in Morocco or abroad, and in Arabic, Amazigh, Hassaniya, or foreign languages, provided that these publications are registered according to the applicable legal procedures.
Moreover, the ministry clarified that applications are not open for books with more than two authors, and previous winners may only participate again after three years have passed since their award.
The application file should include a participation request, a completed information card, a current CV of the candidate, a copy of the national ID card, and eight copies of the nominated book. For the translation award, three copies of the original book must be attached along with eight copies of the translation, along with a document proving translation rights.
