Minister of Labor Calls for Amendments to Labor Code to Protect Private Security Guards from Exploitation

In a recent television interview, Younes Skouri, the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Enterprises, Labor, and Skills, emphasized the urgent need for amendments to the Labor Code aimed at rescuing and improving the conditions of private security guards in Morocco. He described this group as suffering from exploitation, poor working conditions, and meager wages, deeming this situation unacceptable.

Skouri reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing conditions and toughening penalties for violators. He contacted relevant unions to propose measures aimed at tightening penalties for offenders and improving the working conditions of private security guards. The minister committed to including these amendments in the current parliamentary session to ensure their effective implementation.

In this context, the minister praised “Generation Z,” noting that this generation, despite the flaws in the Moroccan educational system, has managed to voice their concerns “with boldness and eloquence,” representing “youth rooted in society.” Skouri reassured that the government is responding to their demands and is prepared to positively engage with them.

He added that this generation has led “positive change at a genuine and sincere moment,” which calls for responsible parties to engage with them “away from political and electoral maneuvering,” as they embody “youth belonging to Moroccan identity.”

The minister urged current and future governments to listen to the youth’s demands and work on implementing them without delay, emphasizing the need to save “administrative, social, and political time.” He also stressed the importance of building trust in the country and its institutions, while encouraging the youth to be patient, noting that reforms take time to materialize in reality.
