The government has increased the number of beneficiaries of vocational training to 200,000 young people as part of a new national employment plan.

The Minister of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, confirmed that the government has prepared a precise action plan for employment policy, allocating significant financial and human resources to achieve tangible results in the short and medium term.

The minister explained that the last ministerial council, chaired by King Mohammed VI, approved the increase in the number of beneficiaries of vocational training to 200,000 young men and women during the upcoming year, a significant rise from the previous limit of only 9,000 beneficiaries. This reflects the government’s intention to broaden the base of beneficiaries and enhance professional integration opportunities.

This program provides training opportunities for young people from various educational backgrounds, including those who are only literate, within specialized training centers. The state covers a substantial part of the costs, dedicating 5,000 dirhams for each trainee to provide essential pedagogical equipment and technical resources, with the possibility of additional grants from the participating companies.

The total cost of the program is approximately 800 million dirhams and includes training in 200 professions across multiple sectors, including handicrafts, tourism, machinery and vehicle repair, agriculture, fisheries, and the youth and sports sector.

The vocational training system follows an approach of “20 percent theoretical training and 80 percent practical training” to ensure effective qualification that meets the labor market needs, enabling young people to acquire practical skills that qualify them for various professions.

This initiative is part of the gradual implementation of the project to generalize social protection and productive employment, in line with royal directives calling for enabling youth access to job and training opportunities and enhancing their contribution to the national economic dynamics.
