The government expands family allowances to include children from the fourth to sixth for the benefit of 136,000 families

Mustafa Baytas, the Minister Delegate in Charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, announced that the number of families benefiting from family allowances for children starting from the fourth to the sixth child will reach 136,754 families.

Baytas explained during the press conference following the Cabinet meeting that the number of children benefiting from this measure will be 165,249 children of insured parents in the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), who meet the eligibility criteria for 2024.

This announcement comes after the government’s approval of Draft Decree No. 2.23.715, concerning amendments to the decree defining the amount of family compensation granted by the National Social Security Fund, presented by Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah.

Baytas noted that the new decree aims to activate the government’s commitment arising from the agreement of April 30, 2022, between the government and trade union federations within the framework of social dialogue, which stipulates increasing the family allowances for the fourth, fifth, and sixth children to 100 dirhams per month.

He added that this measure will be implemented retroactively starting from January 1, 2023, allowing private sector employees to receive their accumulated entitlements in one lump sum, similar to public sector employees who benefited from the same measure.

The minister indicated that the cost of this measure during 2025 will reach approximately 122 million dirhams, accounting for 1% of the total family allowance expenditures, pointing out that most benefiting families have four or five children, while the number of families with six children remains limited.

Baytas affirmed that this decision is part of the government’s efforts to enhance the purchasing power of private sector employees, continuing to implement the outcomes of social dialogue and improving living conditions for Moroccan families.
