The government council approved the establishment of two new industrial acceleration zones in Fes and Skhirat.
On Thursday, October 9, 2025 (16 Rabī’ al-Akhir 1447 AH), chaired by Aziz Akhannouch, the council ratified two decrees aimed at creating new industrial acceleration zones in the regions of Fes-Meknes and Rabat-Salé-Kenitra. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to enhance industrial development and attract investments.
The approval, which followed the presentation of the decrees by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, grants the green light for the launch of these strategic zones.
Details of the New Industrial Acceleration Zones
Fes Bensouda Industrial Acceleration Zone (Decree No. 2.25.799):
This zone will be established in the Bensouda district of the Fes prefecture in the Fes-Meknes region. Its activities will focus on supporting vital sectors, including automotive industries, renewable energy equipment, aircraft components, and metal, mechanical, electrical, and electronic industries. The zone will also include chemical and semi-chemical industries, textiles and leather, building materials, along with services related to these activities.
Skhirat Industrial Acceleration Zone (Decree No. 2.25.800):
This zone will be located in the Skhirat municipality within the Skhirat-Témara prefecture in the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region. It is characterized by a broader diversity of permitted activities, encompassing textile and leather industries, automotive manufacturing, renewable energy equipment, and aircraft components. It also aims to attract plastic and food industries, as well as metal, mechanical, electrical, and electronic industries, chemical and semi-chemical sectors, building materials, and supporting services.
This governmental step underscores the strategy to expand specialized industrial infrastructure, aimed at enhancing regional economic competitiveness and opening new avenues for employment and direct investment in high-value-added sectors.
