The Attorney General at the Court of Appeal in Agadir has revealed details of the serious attack targeting the Royal Gendarmerie Center in Qliya, which took place on the evening of October 1, 2025, amid protests that erupted in the area.
In an official statement, it was noted that more than 200 individuals, mostly minors armed with sticks, stones, and bladed weapons, engaged in widespread acts of vandalism targeting private vehicles, a passenger bus, and commercial establishments before heading toward the Royal Gendarmerie Center in Qliya.
The statement indicated that the attackers set fire to the office of the deputy commander of the center and its main gate, resulting in significant material losses, including the destruction of equipment and surveillance cameras. They also seized a four-wheel-drive vehicle and five motorcycles belonging to the center and burned them in the street.
Additionally, the statement highlighted that the organized attack led to injuries for eight gendarmerie personnel, three of whom sustained serious wounds. Families of the gendarmes residing in official housing were also subjected to direct assaults, while private vehicles were vandalized.
Faced with the assailants’ attempts to seize weapons and ammunition, gendarmes were compelled to use their service weapons in accordance with legal protocols, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to others.
The Attorney General confirmed that the public prosecution has launched an urgent judicial inquiry under its supervision to uncover the circumstances surrounding these criminal acts and to apprehend those involved, emphasizing that the protection of rights and freedoms remains guaranteed under the law, but any assault on security and public order will be addressed firmly and decisively.
