On Thursday, October 2, Rabat security services arrested four individuals, including a 17-year-old minor, suspected of preparing Molotov cocktails for use in acts of vandalism.

The minor was carrying a backpack containing eight bombs, five of which were filled with flammable liquid obtained from a petrol station on Mohammed VI Avenue.

The other three suspects initially attempted to flee but were later apprehended by investigative teams during a sweep, indicating that they were all part of the same network.

Initial investigations revealed that the detainees had tested two of the bombs in an open area in the Douar Doum neighborhood of Biyzantia. They stated they chose the location to defend themselves against someone who had previously assaulted them. They also confirmed that they were inspired by instructional videos available online linked to past protests.

Upon the order of the Attorney General at the Rabat Court of Appeal, all detainees were placed in custody while the police continue to investigate to identify additional individuals involved and clarify all aspects of the case.
