Rabat.. Experts and Entrepreneurs: Supporting Small Enterprises as a Key Gateway to Creating Wealth and Job Opportunities
The Moroccan Network for Small Enterprises, in partnership with the Moroccan Authority for Small Enterprises, organized a roundtable on Friday, October 3, in Rabat, titled “Small Enterprises Amid Challenges and Opportunities Towards 2030.”
The meeting aimed to diagnose the current state of small enterprises, which represent 99.6% of the economic fabric and employ about 74% of the national workforce, while the year 2024 witnessed the bankruptcy of 33,000 enterprises, with expectations of exceeding 40,000 cases in 2025.
Rachid El Ouardi, the head of the network, called for enabling small enterprises to have institutional representation within the House of Councillors and professional chambers, as well as revising the electoral law to ensure their voice in economic policies. He also demanded preferential financing, a guaranteed share in public contracts, and their inclusion in official economic missions.
Participating experts emphasized the need to establish a national public procurement agency to ensure transparency and equal opportunities, alongside adopting a new economic model based on private investment and innovation in management.
The speakers confirmed that supporting small enterprises is a crucial entry point for generating wealth and creating sustainable job opportunities, in alignment with royal directives calling for greater empowerment of these enterprises in the national economy.
