Poland Plans to Build a 300-Kilometer Strategic Fuel Pipeline for NATO
Poland’s Deputy Defense Minister, Cezary Tomczyk, announced that the country will extend a NATO fuel pipeline from the border with Germany to a Polish pipeline operator’s base in Bydgoszcz, measuring 300 kilometers in length.
Tomczyk noted that the project’s cost is approximately 20 billion zloty, equivalent to around 5.5 billion US dollars, confirming that these funds are allocated by the NATO headquarters.
The official explained that this project is part of extending a strategic pipeline network established in the 1960s and 1970s in anticipation of any conflict with the Soviet Union, emphasizing that “equipment, ammunition, and fuel are the essential elements on the battlefield.”
Today, a ceremony is taking place at the military educational center in Warsaw to sign a preliminary agreement for integrating pipeline systems between Poland and NATO.
