Chinese Giant Chooses Morocco for Its First Tire Factory Outside of China

The Chinese group “Yongsheng Rubber,” specialized in tire manufacturing, has begun construction on its first factory outside of China within the free zone of Betoya in the Driouch region of northern Morocco, with an investment exceeding 6.2 billion dirhams.

This decision reflects the growing confidence in the kingdom as an industrial and export platform linking Africa and Europe. The factory is set to produce 6 million tires annually in its initial phase, with plans to double production to 12 million units within three years, leveraging the latest technologies in the rubber industry.

Selecting Morocco was no coincidence. Its strategic location between Europe and Africa, along with modern infrastructure such as the Port of Nador West Mediterranean, has made it an attractive hub for investors seeking logistical efficiency and competitive production costs.

The company explained that its new project is part of its plan to expand its industrial presence globally, following a significant investment in Saudi Arabia in 2024, thus creating a production network connecting Asia with Africa and Europe.

To ensure a skilled workforce capable of ensuring the project’s success, “Yongsheng Rubber” launched a training program for Arab translators and technicians in China for six months before they transition to the Moroccan factory.

With this investment, the tire sector joins the ranks of major industries that have chosen Morocco in recent years, from automotive to aerospace to renewable energy, enhancing the kingdom’s position as an emerging industrial powerhouse and a preferred destination for international capital.
