Patrice Motsepe: Morocco is the Only Choice for Organizing the Africa Cup of Nations, and the Best Version in History is Coming
Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football, confirmed that Morocco is the first and only choice to host the Africa Cup of Nations, in a clear response to questions about CAF’s stance on the current situation in the kingdom.
Motsepe stated in press remarks: “I have received numerous questions about what is happening in Morocco and our position on it. The answer is clear: Morocco is the first, second, and third choice; in fact, it is the only choice to host the tournament.”
He added: “We are confident that the African Confederation, the Moroccan government, the Moroccan people, and all Moroccans will work together to organize the best version in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations.”
Motsepe’s remarks came during his participation, alongside Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, and Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, along with several prominent figures, at the general assembly of the Confederation of African Football held in the Congolese capital, Kinshasa.
