The city of Oujda continues to strengthen its position on the national industrial map, having inaugurated a new factory for the Austrian company Hirschmann Automotive on Thursday, October 30, within the Oujda Technopolis industrial acceleration zone, a step expected to create more than 600 direct and permanent jobs.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Wali of the Eastern Region and Governor of Oujda Angad, Khalid Lahbil, President of the Eastern Region Council Mohamed Bouaourar, alongside his deputies Aladdin Barkawi, Fatima Zahra Besrawi, and Safaa Kharbouch, in addition to the Commercial Counselor at the Austrian Embassy in Morocco, and several elected officials and economic actors from the region.

In a speech on the occasion, Bouaourar praised this significant industrial project, which reflects the growing confidence of foreign investors in the capabilities of the Eastern Region, affirming that its realization was the result of effective institutional coordination between the wali, the regional council, and the regional investment center.

The Oujda factory represents the second production unit for Hirschmann Automotive in Morocco, following its site in Kenitra, and it is noteworthy that Morocco is the only African country in the company’s global production network.

The company is one of the leading manufacturers specializing in electrical systems and smart connection solutions for the automotive industry, and it chose to invest in the Eastern region after thoroughly studying the area’s qualifications, which include advanced infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and excellent institutional support.

With this new investment, the Eastern region confirms its position as a rising industrial hub and a key player in the national strategy for economic regionalization, under a vision focused on innovation, economic diversification, and attracting high-value-added investments.
