Oases and Date Palms: The Focus of the Investment Forum
The Agricultural Development Agency, in partnership with the Agricultural Credit Group of Morocco, the National Agency for the Development of Oases and Argan Trees, and the International Date Palm Forum, organized an investment forum under the slogan: “Responsible Investment for the Development of Date Palms and Oases,” alongside the 14th International Date Exhibition in Morocco (SIDATTES 2025).
This forum served as a strategic platform for actors in the date palm value chain, providing opportunities for exchanging experiences and collaborative efforts concerning the sustainable development challenges facing oasis areas.
The forum addressed two core topics through roundtable discussions; the first focused on integrated water resource management as a fundamental pillar for the sustainability of oasis systems in light of climate change, while the second examined responsible investments as a lever for achieving balanced development that combines economic efficiency, social justice, and environmental preservation.
The event witnessed broad participation from key institutional and economic stakeholders in the date sector, including central and regional directorates and public bodies affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture, along with the Agricultural Credit Group of Morocco, the Professional Union of Dates, as well as investors, experts, and professionals.
Participants concluded the forum by emphasizing the need for flexible investment models capable of adapting to the impacts of climate change while preserving the environmental and cultural heritage of oasis regions. They also highlighted the strategic role of oases in achieving food security, creating job opportunities, particularly for youth and women, contributing to the stability of rural populations, and protecting the unique natural and cultural heritage of the Kingdom.
This forum is a practical embodiment of the major orientations of the “Green Generation 2020-2030” strategy, aimed at enhancing the date palm value chain and promoting a responsible and inclusive agricultural development model. In line with these objectives, the International Date Exhibition in Morocco continues to establish its position as a leading national and international platform for enhancing the date value chain, reaffirming the Kingdom’s ambition towards competitive, sustainable, and inclusive agriculture.
