Morocco Launches Consultations for a New Generation of Integrated Territorial Development Programs in 75 Regions
Jelloul Samsam, the governor and director general of local communities at the Ministry of Interior, announced on Wednesday that the preparation phase for a new generation of integrated territorial development programs will begin next week with extensive consultations in the 75 regions of the kingdom.
Samsam stated during his participation in the “MAP Town Hall” of the Moroccan News Agency that these programs are designed in accordance with the royal directives of King Mohammed VI and aim to engage all local stakeholders—residents, elected officials, administrations, and civil society—in designing projects that meet the needs of the population.
He clarified that the design phase will be based on a thorough territorial diagnosis, while actual implementation of the programs is set to commence at the beginning of 2026.
For her part, Mbarka Bouida, president of the Moroccan Regions Association, emphasized the strong mobilization of all stakeholders to ensure the success of this initiative, highlighting the importance of advanced regionalization and the necessity of developing a vision for rural and mountainous areas, which includes improving connectivity and creating job opportunities and added value.
Abdel Rahim Kessiri, a member of the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council, underscored that Morocco possesses the human and natural resources to confront challenges, noting that the council will provide recommendations to identify major levers and leverage them within the context of sustainable integrated development programs.
