Marrakech has concluded the fifth edition of its Short Film Festival by awarding the Best Film prize to “Milk Brothers” directed by Kenza Tazi, reaffirming the position that Moroccan short cinema occupies on the international stage.

The national competition saw “Sheikha” by Zahwa Raji and Ayoub Yousfi win the Best Director award, while actress Nisrine Adam received the Best Performance award for her role in “Beneath a Mother’s Feet.” Additionally, the film “Lady of the Grave” by Mohammed Allali received special mention from the jury.

On the international front, the Best Director Palm Award went to “Shadows” by Rand Bioutti, while “Stero,” by Tevan Kimati and Milan Taris, claimed the Best Film award. Several Moroccan and international works also received honorary mentions from partner festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand, Alexandria, Locarno, Toronto Short Film Festival, and ZINEBI in Bilbao, highlighting the festival’s international outreach.

Beyond the film screenings, the festival offered a rich program that included training workshops and professional meetings, as well as the “Pitch Your Short” program to support emerging talents, where director Salma Belghiti showcased her new project “Kanaf” and her film “DarHome.” The event, hosted by El Salvador as the guest of honor, took place in symbolic venues of the red city such as the Palais Badi and the Cyber Park, reinforcing Marrakech’s status as a global platform for short films and a bridge for cultural exchange between continents.
