Exposed Lies: Algeria Fabricates Scenes to Disrupt Morocco’s Democratic Path

Once again, hostile parties, suspected of being linked to the Algerian regime, are spreading misleading information and fabricated clips to tarnish Morocco’s image both domestically and internationally, exploiting the recent peaceful protests in the Kingdom.

Moroccan security services have detected foreign pages and accounts on social media sharing edited clips from a short dramatization previously uploaded on YouTube over a year ago, presented misleadingly as documenting instances of violence and torture allegedly attributed to Moroccan security forces against demonstrators. Investigations have confirmed that these are merely fictional scenes unrelated to reality, created purely for dramatic purposes with no connection to any real incident.

A responsible security source clarified that these fabricated clips, suspiciously re-edited, are simply part of a directed propaganda campaign aimed at sowing discord and undermining the trust between citizens and their security institutions. The national police are actively countering these systematic attempts through a strategy that combines informing and correcting, as well as legal and technical surveillance to identify those behind this misleading content.

The source further emphasized that while these false campaigns may attempt to play on public sentiment, they have become apparent and do not deceive Moroccans, who are increasingly aware of the type of media targeting their country in various contexts, especially from media and platforms associated with the Algerian regime.

This is not the first time that the Algerian regime has been accused of launching a propaganda war against Morocco. For years, official and semi-official Algerian media, along with affiliated online networks, have been fabricating news, distorting contexts, and disseminating fabricated materials that damage Morocco’s image and institutions, seizing upon any internal event, whether political or social, to present distorted narratives to the international public.

Observers believe that these desperate attempts reflect a state of political and media confusion in the eastern neighbor, amid its regional and international isolation, and its failure to present a developmental or democratic model that even convinces its own people.

In response to this systematic digital warfare, Moroccan security services reaffirm their commitment to enhancing information vigilance to detect and counter all fake news, responding in a manner that reinforces the right to information and enhances the sense of security and trust among citizens.

The Moroccan state is also betting on the awareness of Moroccan citizens, especially in light of the digital evolution and ease of verifying sources, making disinformation campaigns, no matter how well-produced, incapable of infiltrating collective awareness or damaging the credibility of national institutions.

The latest campaign is simply another episode in a series of desperate efforts orchestrated by parties hostile to Morocco, foremost among them the Algerian regime, which continues to invest its people’s money in propaganda wars instead of using it for domestic development. However, as in every instance before, these attempts will collide with a wall of national awareness, state vigilance, and the cohesion of Moroccan society behind its institutions.
