On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in Malabo, the President of the House of Counselors, Mohamed Oul Rachid, held talks with the President of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), Ivariste Nganama, on the sidelines of the opening of the second regular session of the community’s parliament.
The meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the strong cooperative ties between the two legislative bodies and to discuss ways to enhance collaboration in areas such as development, governance, energy, and training, in addition to coordinating on issues of mutual interest within regional and international forums.
Oul Rachid emphasized that Morocco, under the wise leadership of King Mohammed VI, remains committed to its African agenda, continuing to strengthen this commitment through partnerships based on solidarity and mutual respect, aiming to make the African continent a space for shared development and stability.
He explained that the House of Counselors views its partnership with the CEMAC Parliament as an extension of this royal vision, highlighting the importance of activating the memorandum of understanding signed in Rabat and the Laayoune Declaration as a permanent institutional framework for exchanging experiences and organizing forums focused on economy, human development, and regional security.
For his part, the CEMAC President stated that the meeting embodies the spirit of cooperation and joint work between the two institutions, calling for investment in the current momentum to build an effective African parliamentary platform linking Morocco with Central African countries.
Nganama praised the strategic projects launched by King Mohammed VI to enhance African cooperation, notably the Atlantic Initiative, the initiative to empower Sahel countries to access the Atlantic Ocean, and the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, considering that these reflect Morocco’s steadfast commitment to serving the development and economic integration of the continent.
