Death of Pregnant Woman at Hassan II Hospital in Agadir: Regional Health Directorate Launches Detailed Investigation

The Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in the Souss-Massa region issued a clarification following the death of a pregnant woman on Tuesday morning, October 7, 2025, at Hassan II Hospital in Agadir. This news had been circulated in some social media groups associated with the so-called “Gen Z Movement” for provocative purposes.

The statement clarified that the woman was admitted to the maternity ward at Biougra Hospital in an emergency condition and was immediately attended to by a specialist obstetrician, accompanied by the nursing staff. A cesarean section was performed to ensure the safety of both the mother and the fetus. Despite medical intervention after she suffered severe bleeding and subsequent transfer to the intensive care unit at Hassan II Hospital, she later passed away, while the newborn remains under medical observation.

The Directorate confirmed that a medical and administrative committee has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and to determine responsibilities. It emphasized that the hospital has the necessary medical staff, denying circulating claims about the absence of specialists.

The statement concluded by extending condolences to the deceased’s family, assuring that the investigations will be closely monitored to ensure transparency and address any potential shortcomings.
