Arrest of a Chinese National at Mohammed V Airport on Charges of Phone Call Hacking and Digital System Breach
In ongoing efforts to combat technology and communication-related crimes, the National Security Services at Mohammed V International Airport arrested a Chinese national on Monday, September 29, 2025. He was subject to a nationwide search warrant for his alleged involvement in a complex operation of phone call hacking and interference with automated digital data processing systems.
The investigation was initiated by police in Marrakech following a complaint lodged by a national telecommunications company, which reported that its networks were compromised, leading to the rerouting of international calls and text messages to local numbers. This exploitation of the pricing differences between international and local calls resulted in illegal financial gains.
Initial inquiries revealed a residence in Marrakech that was used as a base for these criminal activities, where advanced devices and equipment were found to facilitate the hacking operations.
Investigations continued to identify the suspect, who was apprehended while attempting to leave Morocco via Mohammed V Airport. He is currently undergoing interrogation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office to uncover all details of the crime and ascertain its possible extensions.
