A representative from the Public Prosecution Office has stated that acts of vandalism, arson, and violence associated with unauthorized protests are not related to freedom of expression and constitute serious criminal acts punishable by significant prison terms.

Ahmed Wali Alami, head of the Public Prosecution Office’s criminal law division, affirmed in a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press that these criminal acts, which have affected both public and private property and caused bodily harm to individuals, are punishable under the law by sentences ranging from 10 to 20 years in prison. In some cases, penalties may reach up to 30 years or even life imprisonment if aggravated circumstances are involved.

Alami emphasized that these events directly impact the safety and security of citizens and their property, reiterating that the law must be enforced rigorously to protect citizens’ safety and ensure their peace of mind.
