A Moroccan Coalition Wins the King Salman International Prize for the Arabic Language

The “National Coalition for the Arabic Language” announced its victory in the King Salman Global Award for the Arabic Language for its fourth edition in 2025. This award is one of the most prominent honors recognizing exceptional efforts in serving the Arabic language, enhancing its status, and supporting its presence in education, computing, research, and raising linguistic awareness, as part of its strategic initiatives aligned with the goals of the Human Capacity Development Program.

The announcement was made yesterday, Sunday, by the Secretary-General of the Academy, Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, who confirmed that the award has the support of the Minister of Culture for all the Academy’s programs and projects. He emphasized that this award is an annual initiative aimed at honoring achievements that contribute to the development and promotion of the Arabic language both locally and internationally, as well as stimulating creative initiatives that elevate Arabic content and keep pace with technological and cognitive transformations.

The Academy indicated that the fourth edition of the award includes four main categories: Teaching and Learning of the Arabic Language, Computing the Arabic Language and Utilizing Modern Technologies, Research and Scientific Studies on the Arabic Language, and Raising Linguistic Awareness and Creative Community Linguistic Initiatives. The nominated works were assessed according to precise evaluation mechanisms that consider the quality of the work, its impact, and sustainability. The judging committees based their deliberations on objective criteria measuring creativity, innovation, excellence in performance, widespread reach, effectiveness, and impact.

The Coalition won in the category of Raising Linguistic Awareness and Creative Community Linguistic Initiatives, in the institutions category, being recognized for “its efforts in raising community awareness of language policies and enhancing the status of Arabic in Moroccan society through various intellectual and cultural initiatives.”
