The national championship wheels begin to turn today, Friday, as the 2025/2026 sports season kicks off with four matches, the standout clash being at the Mohammed V Sports Complex between Wydad Casablanca and Marrakech’s Kawkab.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the Professional League aim to bring fresh energy to the national league through a series of decisions announced in recent weeks, which aim to enhance the professionalism of the championship matches.

Moroccan fans are eager to witness a notable level of play this season, especially with several stadiums opening their doors to the public, including the Olympic Stadium in Rabat and the two large stadiums in Agadir and Marrakech. Fans are also awaiting the completion of the stadiums in Tangier and Fez, along with the Post and Moulay Hassan Stadiums in Rabat. These projects promise an improved viewing experience for spectators and a more developed image for Moroccan football in terms of infrastructure and match quality.

The economic capital’s teams, Raja and Wydad Casablanca, hope to regain their form after disappointing performances last season that hindered their competition for national and continental titles. Meanwhile, RS Berkane and the Royal Army are looking to continue their local progress, aiming for success in continental competitions, representing Morocco in the CAF Champions League. In the Confederation Cup, Morocco will be represented by Olympic Safi, the Cup of the Throne champion, and Wydad, who finished third last season.
