On Friday in New York, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch held discussions with Dr. Dima Al Yahyah, the Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Following the meeting, Al Yahyah praised Morocco’s pioneering role in the digital economy, affirming the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting this strategic sector.
She also highlighted the launch of the “Moroccan Digital Hub for Sustainable Development,” announced on Friday in New York, considering it a qualitative step toward bridging the digital divide by mobilizing international organizations and regional partners.
The Secretary-General expressed her appreciation for the participatory approach adopted by Morocco in this initiative, aimed at accelerating digital transformation in Africa and the Arab region.
The new hub was launched as part of an initiative by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program. It was attended by the Prime Minister, the Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal Al Falah Sghrouchni, and Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Omar Hilal.
This initiative reinforces Morocco’s position as a regional and continental player in comprehensive and sustainable digital transformation.
