The Ministry of Interior has launched this week the second round of consultations with political parties regarding the general electoral system in preparation for the legislative elections of 2026.

The ministry received a delegation from the Independence Party today, following meetings with both the National Rally of Independents and the Authenticity and Modernity Party to discuss electoral proposals and memorandums aimed at enhancing political participation and strengthening trust in elected institutions.

Informed sources confirmed that the meetings will continue next week, with the Progressive Justice and Development Party expected to be received early in the week, followed by a meeting with the Justice and Development Party, along with other parties, as part of a comprehensive approach aimed at improving the legal framework governing elections and ensuring its readiness before the end of the year.

This second round comes after the first round held at the beginning of August, as part of the early preparations for the elections, and emphasizes the recent royal directives on the occasion of the Throne Day regarding the necessity of organizing elections on schedule and ensuring a complete and reliable electoral system.

The memorandums from the parties focused on updating electoral lists, organizing the electoral process, encouraging participation, enhancing the presence of women and youth, developing public funding for political work, and improving media communication methods, including modern interactive media, to make the electoral process more transparent and appealing to citizens.
