The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has announced the launch of a major international tender for the acquisition of millions of units of essential medicines and medical supplies, valued at over 182 million dirhams. This move aims to enhance pharmaceutical security and ensure regular access for patients to essential treatments.
The tender encompasses 125 types of medications intended for the treatment of chronic diseases, cancers, and epidemics, along with emergency supplies. The list includes cancer medications, diabetes treatments, antibiotics, and antiviral drugs, as well as strong painkillers like morphine and doses of the quadrivalent vaccine against seasonal influenza.
According to the terms of reference, the operation involves large quantities, including over two million units of a formulation aimed at treating HIV, 855 thousand units of azithromycin, 2.5 million units of metronidazole, in addition to 500 thousand units of morphine.
The ministry emphasized that the tender adheres to strict conditions to ensure quality and safety, including shelf life, replacement of unused products, and the inclusion of leaflets in Arabic or French, with the phrase “Ministry of Health and Social Protection – Not for Sale” printed on the packaging.
The implementation of the operation will extend over eight months, through staggered delivery phases, marking one of the largest national contracts in the field of medicines and medical supplies, supporting the national health strategy aimed at ensuring the continuity of healthcare services for citizens.
