Minister of National Education Inspects Educational Institutions in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region at the Start of the 2025-2026 Academic Year

Mohammed Saad Berrada, Minister of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports, conducted a field visit yesterday, Thursday, to several educational institutions in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, coinciding with the launch of the 2025-2026 academic year.

This visit is part of the follow-up on the 2022-2026 roadmap aimed at improving education quality and combating school dropout rates. The tour included two institutions in the Chefchaouen province, three in the Tangier-Assilah prefecture, and two in the Fahs-Anjra province.

Wafaa Chakir, Director of the Regional Academy for Education and Training, confirmed that the school year commenced under good conditions, with an enhanced educational offering, particularly through leading schools, noting significant progress in combating school dropouts.

Abdelghafour Alzawy, the regional director of the Ministry of National Education in Chefchaouen, emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring and evaluation to support educational institutions and praised the role of performance assessments in improving student guidance.

The new school year, themed “For a Quality School,” witnesses the enrollment of more than one million students in the region, with 40% coming from rural areas. Approximately 75,000 children have joined public preschool education, while classes for special education and second chance programs will officially start on October 6.

To meet the growing demand, the regional educational offering has been enhanced with the establishment of 345 new preschool classrooms and the implementation of 20 new infrastructure projects, including six primary schools, seven preparatory schools, and seven secondary schools, bringing the total number of public educational institutions in the region to 1,402, with 56% located in rural areas.
