The local prison administration in Boulherfa clarified the facts regarding claims made by a former inmate.
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the administration issued a statement in response to a video posted on YouTube titled “A Former Inmate from Boulherfa Requests a Meeting with the Director General of the Prison Administration for This Reason,” which included allegations from the former inmate (F. Z) concerning torture and the conditions of his detention.
The statement confirmed that the individual was known for making numerous malicious complaints and inciting other inmates to create chaos. It noted that he was transferred on May 30, 2023, from the local prison in Khouribga to the prison in Boulherfa due to such behavior. The administration highlighted that the mentioned inmate had a history of poor conduct across various prisons, having previously been convicted of charges related to “seduction of a married woman, extortion, and threats” during his first arrest, and “rape of a minor with violence, attempted rape of a minor, and deliberate harm” in his second arrest.
Regarding the allegations of torture, the administration emphasized that these claims are unfounded, explaining that he was housed in a solitary room that met the necessary health requirements and enjoyed all his rights, including recreational time without shackles.
Concerning the reported cases of poisoning or the use of oil stoves, the administration categorically denied these claims, asserting that the inmate had never reported any poisoning incidents during his detention and that the facility had long prohibited the use of oil stoves and the sale of materials that could be utilized for such purposes, including cooking oil.
As for the issue of telephone communication, the statement clarified that the inmate was allowed access to a landline once a week for the legally permitted duration and that if his scheduled call coincided with a public holiday, he would be compensated the following day.
The prison administration deemed the inmate’s assertion about the “head of the security and discipline department controlling affairs” as baseless, confirming that the management of the facility is conducted in accordance with applicable legal regulations.
