Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is set to make an official visit to Morocco next week, marking his first trip to Rabat. The visit has been arranged at the invitation of Abdellatif Loudiyi, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration.

The agenda includes the inauguration of a new industrial facility by Tata in Berrechid for the production of WhAP 8×8 wheeled armored vehicles, aimed at expanding military and industrial cooperation between the two countries. According to the Indian defense news site Bharat Shatki, this visit reflects India’s growing interest in bolstering its defense industry presence in Africa and continuing partnerships with the Moroccan armed forces, which have seen extensive collaboration with the Indian company MKU over the past four years.

Additionally, sources indicate that the Indian minister’s visit comes amid a sensitive geopolitical context, where both Morocco and India are seeking to strengthen defense cooperation, pursue joint projects, and explore export opportunities in preparation for multilateral initiatives during the upcoming India-Africa Forum summit.
