The emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in Doha issued a comprehensive final statement that embodied the unity of the Arab and Islamic stance regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. It carried practical calls to confront the occupation and hold it accountable internationally.
The statement emphasized the support for the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, viewing it as a crucial mechanism for defending the holy city of Jerusalem and preserving its religious and cultural identity, as well as reinforcing the steadfastness of its inhabitants. It underscored the executive role of the Al-Quds Fund in providing direct support to Jerusalemites in housing, education, health, and infrastructure, making it a practical tool for translating solidarity into tangible projects on the ground.
The statement also focused on several points:
Measures Against the Occupation: It called on all countries to take legal and political measures to prevent Israel from continuing its crimes, including imposing sanctions, suspending arms and military supplies, reviewing diplomatic and economic relations with it, and initiating legal actions against it.
Cooperation with the United Nations: It urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to coordinate regarding Israel’s membership in the United Nations, emphasizing the necessity of suspending it due to its ongoing violations of the UN Charter and disregard for international legitimacy decisions.
International References: It stressed that international legitimacy and UN resolutions are the fundamental references for achieving peace, rejecting attempts by Israel to exploit Islamophobia to justify settlement activities, genocide, and to tarnish the image of Arab and Islamic states.
Two-State Solution: The statement welcomed the adoption of the “New York Declaration” by the United Nations General Assembly calling for the implementation of the two-state solution, praising the efforts of Saudi Arabia and France in this regard, and calling for the success of the conference scheduled in New York on September 22, 2025, co-chaired by Riyadh and Paris.
Islamic Countries’ Role in the Security Council: It commended the efforts led by Algeria, Somalia, and Pakistan in the Security Council to defend Palestine and demand full membership for it in the United Nations, as well as responding to the aggression on Gaza.
Hashemite Custodianship: It reaffirmed support for the historical custodianship of King Abdullah II over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, stressing that Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entirety, is a sacred space for Muslims under the exclusive supervision of the Jerusalem Awqaf Administration affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf.
Just Peace: It asserted that peace cannot be achieved by bypassing the Palestinian issue or ignoring the rights of its people, but rather through adherence to the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions, calling on the Security Council to end the occupation within a binding timeline.
International Criminal Court: It tasked member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, parties to the Rome Statute, to support the execution of arrest warrants issued by the court in November 2024 against those responsible for crimes against Palestinians and to ensure Israel’s compliance with the provisional measures issued by the International Court of Justice in January 2024 regarding genocide in Gaza.
The summit concluded by emphasizing that defending Jerusalem and Palestine is a collective Arab and Islamic responsibility, reiterating that the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, remains a fundamental pillar in protecting the holy city and supporting its people in the face of occupation plans.
