The Italian football community was shocked by the news of the discovery of former Palermo club president Paul Baccaglini, aged 41, dead alongside his partner in his home in Sigra. This incident has raised many questions.

According to the newspaper Football Italia, preliminary investigations suggest a suicide hypothesis, while authorities in Milan have ordered an autopsy for both bodies to determine the true causes of death as they await further developments.

Baccaglini’s sudden passing has brought his name back into the spotlight after years of controversy, having held the position of chief executive of Palermo in March 2017 for a brief period of less than five months, before entering into negotiations with former president Maurizio Zamparini to purchase the club. Although an initial contract was signed at that time, the deal fell apart due to financial disputes, leading Baccaglini to announce his resignation in July of the same year.

Palermo and its current president Dario Mirri mourned the late Baccaglini in an emotional official statement, confirming that the city and the entire football family have lost a prominent figure in the history of the Sicilian team.

Baccaglini’s tragic departure represents not only a personal loss but also opens the door to significant questions regarding the true reasons that led him to this shocking end.
