A Spanish official stated that the new port infrastructure in Casablanca enhances Morocco’s position in international trade.

Santiago José Castilla, President of the Port Authority of Tarragona, emphasized that the new facilities inaugurated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Casablanca port represent a major strategic step to bolster the global economy and enhance the dynamics of international trade.

In a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press, Castilla explained that Morocco, which is experiencing continuous economic growth, is well aware that the future of global markets relies on the strength and development of ports.

He added that the restructuring and development project for the Casablanca port is a continuation of the successes achieved by the Tangier-Med port, opening promising avenues for cooperation with Spain and Europe.

Castilla highlighted the integrated aspect of this infrastructure, particularly in relation to the fishing sector, which reinforces Casablanca’s position as one of the leading fishing hubs in the Euro-Mediterranean region, while simultaneously enhancing Morocco’s attractiveness for diverse economic activities.

The Spanish official noted that the development of the national port system provides the Kingdom with greater strength in its developmental pathway and affirms its regional leadership in innovation and port expertise.
