Rabat Hosts Ibn Rushd Award for Harmony Ceremony
The Andalusian-Moroccan Friendship Association (Ibn Rushd Forum), in partnership with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Rabat and the Department of Spanish Studies, will hold the Ibn Rushd Award for Harmony ceremony on Thursday, October 2, at 4 PM, in the “Sharif Idrissi” auditorium, with the event open to the public.
This year’s award honors the Moroccan-Spanish translator and researcher Malika Ambarak Lopez, in recognition of her role in facilitating dialogue through the Spanish language and introducing Spanish readers to Moroccan literature. The Moroccan National Radio and Television Company will also be recognized for its commitment over the past three decades to incorporating the Spanish language in news broadcasts and programs, promoting cultural understanding between Morocco and Spain.
The award draws inspiration from Ibn Rushd’s philosophy of dialogue, justice, and mutual understanding, honoring individuals and institutions from both Morocco and Spain that contribute to fostering coexistence and appreciating cultural diversity.
It is worth noting that the first edition of the award was presented to Moroccan writer Abdelkader Chaoui and to the Cervantes Institutes in Morocco.
