His Majesty the King Grants Royal Pardon to 681 Individuals on the Occasion of the Prophet’s Birthday

His Majesty King Mohammed VI has graciously granted pardon to 681 individuals, including both detainees and those on release, on the occasion of this year’s celebration of the Prophet’s birthday.

A statement from the Ministry of Justice clarified that among the beneficiaries of the pardon who are currently incarcerated, there are 488 inmates, of whom 12 have benefited from a reduction of the remaining prison sentence, while 476 inmates have had their sentences reduced.

On the other hand, the number of beneficiaries who are on release stands at 193 individuals, including 65 who were pardoned from their prison sentence or the remainder thereof, 9 who were pardoned from their prison sentence while maintaining the fine, 103 who were pardoned from the fine, and 16 who were pardoned from both the prison sentence and the fine, bringing the total to 681 persons.

The statement confirmed that this royal pardon reflects His Majesty’s commitment to promoting values of compassion and mercy, reinforcing a culture of tolerance within society. It serves as a reminder of the pivotal role of judicial institutions in delivering justice in a fair and balanced manner, while also reflecting Morocco’s dedication to principles of justice and equality. His Majesty’s efforts aim to activate the spirit of the celebration as an opportunity for rapprochement and forgiveness among all members of society, with wishes for His Majesty’s continued success and empowerment, as well as the protection of Crown Prince Moulay Hassan and members of the revered royal family.
