From September 18 to 20, the Turkish capital Ankara hosted an official working visit by the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdelatif Hammouchi. He led a high-level security delegation to participate in the International Forum for Internal Security Equipment “IGEF 2025,” a prominent event showcasing the latest technological advancements and scientific innovations in the fields of security and defense.
The visit was made at the official invitation of the Turkish authorities, where Hammouchi held a bilateral meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Mahmut Demirtaş, the Director General of the National Police. They discussed ways to enhance security cooperation between Morocco and Turkey, focusing on developing joint mechanisms to tackle major security challenges, primarily illegal immigration and organized crime networks, as well as future prospects related to human resource development and police training programs.
The two sides also discussed the contribution of security agencies in ensuring the success of major international events that Morocco will host, including the 93rd General Assembly of Interpol in Marrakech next November, as well as the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the 2030 World Cup, which will be organized in partnership with Spain and Portugal.
The meeting emphasized the alignment of views between the two countries regarding the importance of enhancing security cooperation and exchanging experiences and practices, reflecting the strength of bilateral relations between Morocco and Turkey.
During his participation in the “IGEF 2025” international exhibition, Hammouchi held a series of meetings with heads of delegations from Arab and Asian countries, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Malaysia, where they reviewed ways to enhance bilateral security cooperation and address regional and international challenges.
The Moroccan delegation also toured the exhibition, where they observed the latest innovative equipment in the field of internal security and modern police technologies, which are expected to boost the effectiveness and efficiency of the security system in countering cross-border criminal threats.
According to observers, this visit reflects Morocco’s determination to establish itself as a strategic security partner on the international stage through openness to global experiences and the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms to address growing security challenges, primarily terrorism and organized crime.
