The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration has issued a statement categorically denying the claims made by the Spanish newspaper “La Gaceta”. The newspaper alleged that one of the recently detained individuals in the town of Falquona de Balaguer, in the province of Lleida, suspected of links to ISIS, had previously benefited from a royal pardon in Morocco.

In a statement received by “Express TV,” the delegation clarified that the Moroccan citizen in question did not receive any royal pardon, as he was not incarcerated during the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Throne Day. He had previously served a six-month prison sentence from March 28 to September 16, 2017, after being charged with inciting acts of terrorism and praising an extremist organization.

The statement emphasized that the information published in the Spanish newspaper is baseless and part of an orchestrated campaign by certain circles in Spain aimed at disrupting the currently excellent relations between Rabat and Madrid.

This clarification follows the announcement by Spanish police regarding the arrest of two Moroccan citizens, aged 24 and 26, in Falquona de Balaguer, suspected of having ties to ISIS and involvement in extremist propaganda activities.
