The President of the African Development Bank Commends Morocco as an Emerging Power on the Continent
The President of the African Development Bank Group, Akinwumi Adesina, praised the Kingdom of Morocco, describing it as an “emerging power” on the African continent due to its outstanding economic and social performance and its visionary strategic choices, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Adesina affirmed that Morocco is undergoing a strong transformation dynamic, as noted in the royal speech on the occasion of Throne Day, and is characterized by harmony and coherence in its path to progress. He pointed out that this path is based on a clear and ambitious vision and an integrated development strategy that encompasses economic, social, and environmental dimensions, grounded in stability governance and well-considered political choices.
He indicated that this methodological approach has enabled the Kingdom to position itself among the most advanced African nations. Adesina noted that through its new development model, Morocco has strengthened the foundations of its economy via a real diversification of sectors, a controlled opening to global markets, and effective integration into regional and international value chains, reflecting its rise on both the continental and international economic stages.
Adesina highlighted that the industrial revival experienced by the Kingdom, particularly in the automotive, aerospace, and renewable energy sectors, reflects the upward trajectory of development, supported by an ambitious structural policy in infrastructure and a robust macroeconomic environment, which enhances Morocco’s attractiveness to international investors.
He concluded his statement by affirming the strength of the partnership between the African Development Bank and Morocco, which is continuously reinforced to support and accompany the major development projects launched by His Majesty the King, in service of the multidimensional progress for the Kingdom and its people.
