The commander of the Royal Gendarmerie in Berrechid, Lieutenant Colonel Murad Araach, successfully apprehended a notorious drug dealer in the city of Droua, known by the alias “W. Q.”, during a precise security operation conducted with his team on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

The operation also led to the arrest of the dealer’s accomplice and another individual linked to the criminal activity, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of drugs, including around 10,000 hallucinogenic pills, along with some bladed weapons and a sum of money suspected to be from illegal trade.

During the attempted arrest, “W. Q.” resisted and fled but was thwarted by the vigilance of Commander Murad Araach and the expertise of his team, which prevented his escape. He was ultimately subdued after a violent struggle.

The success of the operation was widely welcomed by the area’s residents and civil society organizations, who praised the Royal Gendarmerie’s efforts in combating crime and maintaining security and stability.

The three detainees were placed under provisional detention, where they are being interrogated under the supervision of the public prosecutor to uncover the trafficking network and its extensions.

This action aligns with the commitment of the Royal Gendarmerie in Berrechid, under the leadership of Murad Araach, to fight organized crime and intensify security efforts.

It’s worth noting that Commander Murad Araach has previously achieved successes in Taroudant, where he led effective campaigns against crime and drugs, further enhancing citizens’ confidence in security forces.
