Nabila Rhamili, the President of the Casablanca City Council, chaired a council meeting on Monday, August 4, 2025, to discuss the contents of the royal speech delivered on the occasion of the Throne Day, particularly those related to sustainability and spatial justice.
In her opening remarks, Rhamili emphasized the need for council members to embrace the royal directives as a roadmap for overcoming traditional development models by adopting innovative spatial approaches that reflect the city’s unique characteristics and ensure equitable impact across its territory.
The official also underscored the urgency of accelerating the implementation of structural projects in vital areas, including green spaces, access services, economic infrastructure, digital transformation, and sustainable water management.
She also praised the involvement of various partners in ensuring a clean and vibrant summer through the “Clean Summer” campaign and a rich program of cultural and artistic activities coordinated with the Casablanca Event Company and local councils.
The meeting included a presentation by the Casablanca Environment Company, which reviewed the progress of water management and valuation projects, including wastewater treatment plants, the reuse of natural water, and smart irrigation systems for green spaces using non-potable water.
At the end of the meeting, council members affirmed their commitment to promoting spatial justice through a balanced distribution of projects throughout the city and supporting initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens. They agreed to schedule a subsequent work session to update the agenda for the October session and accelerate priority projects.
